LEADING EXPORT COMMODITIES BY VALUE IN MILLION US$ FOR FY 2023/2024.
The FY 2023/2024, Uganda’s formal export earnings were USD 7898.2 million.
Gold and Gold Compounds was Uganda’s leading commodity export in FY 2023/2024. Their revenue stood at USD 3,048.4 million accounting for 38.6% of the total formal exports.
Coffee was the second most exported commodity with export value at USD 1135.1 million accounting for 14.4% of the total formal exports. This was followed by maize in the third position with export revenue at USD 252.9 million (3.2%), Cocoa Beans with export revenue at USD 217.9 million (2.8%), Fish and Fish Products came as the 5th most exported commodity with export value amounting to USD 155.1million (2.0%). LEADING EXPORT DESTINATIONS BY REGION AND ECONOMIC BLOCK FOR FY 2023/2024
The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) regional bloc was the leading final destination for Uganda’s exports, accounting for 29.4% percent of the total exports in the FY 2023/2024 and valued at USD 2,132.02 million.
The main country of destination for Uganda’s exports within the COMESA region was Kenya which contributed USD 638.8 million in FY 2023/2024. Uganda’s total export value to the African continent was USD 2,392 million, accounting for 31.3 percent of all the exports.
The Middle East bloc was the second largest destination of Uganda’s exports whose share to the total exports was 27.8% valued at USD 2,013.94 million. The major destination countries in the Middle East bloc were United Arab Emirates, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Jordan.
The Asian region was the third largest destination of Uganda’s exports with a share of 21.7 percent of the total exports, valued at USD 1,573.42 million. The main countries of destination were India, China, Hongkong, Malaysia, Pakistan and Indonesia.
The European Union bloc was the fourth largest destination of Uganda’s exports with a share of 15.1 percent of the total exports, valued at USD 1,091.77 million. The main countries of destination were Italy, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.
